Wrinkles and fine lines

Two different problems, two different answers

Non-surgical wrinkle treatments in Warrington, delivered personally by Dr James Corcoran. From expression lines to deeper wrinkles, without surgery or general anaesthetic.

What causes wrinkles and fine lines?

Wrinkles are one of the most universal signs of ageing, but understanding exactly what drives them changes which treatment will work best for you.

Dynamic and static wrinkles

There are two distinct types of wrinkle, and treating them effectively requires understanding the difference. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by repeated muscle movement: the frown lines between the brows, the crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes, the horizontal lines across the forehead. Every expression you make deepens these lines a little more over time.

Static wrinkles, on the other hand, are present even when your face is at rest. These develop as collagen and elastin production declines with age, as the skin gradually loses the scaffolding that kept it smooth and plump. Sun damage, dehydration, smoking and genetics all accelerate this process significantly.

The most effective treatment for wrinkles depends entirely on which type you have. Dynamic wrinkles respond best to muscle relaxing injections. Static wrinkles respond better to regenerative and injectable treatments that address the underlying skin structure.

Why wrinkles worsen over time

Dynamic wrinkles that begin as expression lines gradually become static as the skin loses its ability to bounce back. This is why early intervention with the right treatment can make a significant difference to the long-term appearance of the skin. A combination approach, addressing both muscle activity and skin structure, often produces the most comprehensive results.

Where the skin has also begun to lose its firmness along the jaw and neck, that is skin laxity, and it is treated differently again.

Wrinkle treatments we recommend

Every treatment below is delivered personally by Dr James Corcoran at our Warrington clinic. Your plan will be tailored to your specific type of wrinkle and skin condition.

For dynamic wrinkles

Anti-wrinkle injections

The most effective treatment for dynamic wrinkles, the lines caused by repeated facial expression. Placed with precision to smooth forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet without affecting natural expression. Results develop within three to five days, last three to four months, and can be maintained indefinitely.

For static wrinkles

NeoGen plasma skin regeneration

For static wrinkles and deeper lines from collagen loss, NeoGen produces genuine structural improvement by triggering new collagen and elastin production at depth. It smooths superficial and established wrinkles simultaneously. Results develop over four to six months and last two to three years.

Profhilo

Profhilo delivers a high concentration of hyaluronic acid deep into the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin and improving overall skin quality. Particularly effective for fine lines and crepey texture caused by dehydration and early collagen loss.

Polynucleotide treatment

Polynucleotides work at a cellular level to repair and regenerate skin tissue, improving fine lines, skin quality and texture. Particularly effective in delicate areas such as around the eyes and mouth where other treatments are not always appropriate.

Dermal fillers

For deeper static lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and lines around the mouth, hyaluronic acid filler placed with precision can produce immediate, natural-looking improvement. Dr Corcoran’s surgical background ensures placement that avoids the overfilled appearance associated with inexperienced practitioners.

Areas we treat for wrinkles and lines

Different areas respond to different treatments. Dr Corcoran selects the most appropriate approach for each area during your consultation.

Forehead and brows

Horizontal lines and frown lines

Driven by repeated muscle movement, so these are dynamic wrinkles first and static ones later.

Around the eyes

Crow’s feet and fine lines

Delicate skin where not every treatment is appropriate, which is why polynucleotides come up here more than elsewhere.

NeoGen results on lines and skin quality

NeoGen is the treatment this page recommends for static wrinkles, the lines that are there when your face is at rest. Both frames of each pair are shot in the same framing and lighting.

  • These are individual results. Skin, age, starting point and how far the concern has progressed all differ, so yours will too.
  • No composite, no filter, no retouching, and the same framing and lighting in both frames of every pair.
  • Ask to see more at your consultation, including results that were less dramatic than these.

Wrinkle treatment in Warrington, your questions answered

Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that cause dynamic expression lines. Dermal fillers add volume to soften static lines. They treat different problems and are often used together.

Most patients find results last three to four months.

For deep static lines, NeoGen plasma or a combination of NeoGen with dermal filler tends to produce the most significant improvement.

Dr Corcoran, personally, from the first consultation through to your review. There are no technicians at The Plasma Doctor acting on his behalf.

That is the intention, and it is a question of placement and dose rather than of the treatment itself. Dr Corcoran will discuss at consultation how much movement you want to keep, and treat to that.

Why choose The Plasma Doctor for wrinkle treatment

There are a number of clinics offering wrinkle treatment in Warrington and across Cheshire. Here is what sets us apart.

Medically led, always

Every assessment and treatment is carried out by Dr Corcoran personally, a doctor with fellowships in surgery, dentistry and anaesthesia.

The right type identified first

Dynamic and static wrinkles need different treatments. Getting that distinction right is most of the job, and it is the part a consultation exists to do.

A surgeon’s placement

Dr Corcoran’s surgical and maxillofacial background means placement that avoids the overfilled or frozen appearance associated with inexperienced practitioners.

Combined approaches

Addressing both muscle activity and skin structure often produces the most comprehensive result, so plans here frequently use more than one treatment.
