Treating the causes, not just the lines

Skin ages on several levels at once, and the treatments that hold up are the ones that address the level your face is actually changing on. Every assessment and treatment here is carried out by Dr Corcoran personally.

Ageing happens on several levels at once

Effective anti-ageing treatment addresses what is driving the change, not only the visible symptom. Understanding which level your face is changing on is what decides the treatment.

Why skin ages the way it does

From the mid twenties collagen production falls year on year, and the scaffolding that holds skin taut gradually thins. Elastin, which lets skin spring back, degrades with it. That is why fine lines appear before any real sagging does.

Underneath that, the deep fat pads of the face shrink and shift downward. Volume moves from the cheek to the jawline, which is why a face can look tired and heavier at the same time. Bone remodels too, quietly, and the sockets and jaw lose a little of their definition.

On the surface, cumulative sun exposure drives pigmentation, roughness and broken capillaries. That is the part that responds to resurfacing, and the part most people notice first in a photograph.

The reason a single treatment rarely satisfies anybody over fifty is that it usually addresses one level while the others carry on. A plan that works names the levels it is treating and the ones it is not.

What changes, and when

Collagen and elastin. Falling from the mid twenties. Shows as fine lines, then crepiness.

Fat pad volume. Shrinks and descends. Shows as flattening cheeks and a heavier jawline.

Skin surface. Sun damage, pigmentation and texture. Shows earliest in photographs.

Bone. Remodels slowly, reducing definition at the jaw and around the eyes.

Anti-ageing treatments for every level

Which treatment suits you depends on what is actually changing. This is what each one is for, so you know what is available before your consultation.

Structure and laxity

Endolift laser skin tightening

A micro-optical fibre passed under the skin, tightening from beneath without incisions or general anaesthetic. This is the treatment for a jawline and neck that have started to lose their line, and for the lower face generally.

Surface and tone

NeoGen plasma skin regeneration

Nitrogen plasma energy that triggers genuine regeneration rather than resurfacing by injury. It works on pigmentation, texture and crepey skin, and it is suitable at appropriate settings for darker skin tones where many lasers are not.

Lift without surgery

HIFU focused ultrasound

Focused ultrasound delivered to the deeper support layer, prompting a gradual lift over three to six months. Useful for mild to moderate laxity where Endolift would be more than the situation needs.

Hydration and quality

Profhilo and skin boosters

Injectable hyaluronic acid that spreads through the skin rather than adding volume in one place. It addresses the flat, dehydrated quality that reads as tired, and it does not change the shape of the face.

Volume

Dermal fillers

Replacing volume where the fat pads have shrunk, most often the cheek, so the mid face carries its own weight again. Used conservatively, and only where the loss is genuinely volumetric.

Expression lines

Anti-wrinkle injections

For lines driven by muscle movement rather than by skin quality, chiefly across the forehead and around the eyes. A prescription treatment, assessed and administered by Dr Corcoran.

The right treatment at every stage

What helps at forty is rarely what helps at sixty five. This is a broad guide, and no substitute for being looked at properly.

Thirties to early forties

Prevention and skin quality

Fine lines, early dullness, the first pigmentation from sun exposure. Structure is still intact. Skin boosters, NeoGen and disciplined daily protection do most of the work here, and doing less is usually right.

Usually discussedProfhilo, NeoGen or microneedling

Mid forties to fifties

Early laxity and volume shift

The jawline starts to soften, the cheek begins to flatten and texture becomes uneven. This is the stage where combining a tightening treatment with a surface treatment gives noticeably more than either alone.

Usually discussedEndolift or HIFU, with NeoGen

Sixties and beyond

Established change

Laxity, volume loss and sun damage together. Results here are real but they are improvements, not reversals, and Dr Corcoran will say so plainly. Where surgery would genuinely serve you better, he will tell you that too.

Usually discussedEndolift with NeoGen, staged

Results from both directions

Endolift for the structural change along the jawline, lower face and neck. NeoGen for the surface, tone and texture.

  • These are individual results. Skin, age, starting point and how far the concern has progressed all differ, so yours will too. They show the kind of change these treatments can produce, and should not be read as typical or as a promise of a specific outcome.
  • Photographs are supplied with the Endolift system and by NeoGen. They were not taken at this clinic.
  • We do not yet show our own Warrington patients: publishing somebody’s face needs their separate written consent to advertise with it, and when a patient here gives it, theirs is what will be shown.

Anti-ageing treatment in Warrington, answered

There is no single best one, because facial ageing runs on several levels at once and each treatment addresses a different level. The useful question is which level your face is changing on, which is what the consultation is for. Anybody who answers this question before looking at your skin is selling, not advising.

There is no right age. What matters is what your skin is actually doing. In your thirties that usually means protecting quality rather than correcting anything, and the honest advice is often to do very little. Starting treatment you do not yet need is a common and expensive mistake.

The aim is that people notice you look well rather than that you look treated. Endolift and NeoGen both work by prompting your own tissue to change over months, so the result arrives gradually. Where a request would produce an obvious result, Dr Corcoran will say so before you commit.

It depends on the treatment and on you. Regenerative treatments build over three to six months and hold for a period that varies with your skin, your age and your sun exposure. Ageing continues underneath any treatment, so results are maintained rather than permanent, and you will be told the realistic figure for your case at consultation.

NeoGen works on darker skin tones at appropriate settings, which is not true of every laser resurfacing treatment. Suitability is still assessed individually, and part of that assessment is being told honestly if a treatment carries more risk for your skin than it is worth.

Sometimes, and you will be told so. Non-surgical treatment improves what is there; it does not remove and reposition tissue the way a facelift does. Where the change is beyond what these treatments can meaningfully address, saying so is more useful to you than taking the booking.

Why choose The Plasma Doctor for anti-ageing

There are a number of clinics offering anti-ageing treatment in Warrington and across Cheshire. Here is what sets us apart.

Medically led, always

Every assessment and treatment is carried out by Dr Corcoran personally, a doctor with fellowships in surgery, dentistry and anaesthesia. Not a technician, and not somebody acting on his behalf.

The level is identified first

Collagen, volume, surface or muscle. Which one is driving the change decides the treatment, and treating the wrong level is why people are disappointed.

Two technologies, not one

Endolift for structure and NeoGen for surface. Having both means the recommendation follows your face rather than the one device the clinic happens to own.

All skin types treated

NeoGen works on darker skin tones at appropriate settings, where many laser treatments carry real risk. Not every clinic can say that.

Told when to do less

If your skin does not need treating yet, or if surgery would serve you better, you will hear that. It is the part of the consultation people remember.
