About the treatment

What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are naturally occurring DNA fragments that stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation and promote collagen synthesis when injected into the skin.

Polynucleotides (also known as PDRN) are derived from purified salmon DNA, which shares a high degree of compatibility with human DNA. When injected into the skin, they are recognised and absorbed by skin cells, where they act as signalling molecules that activate the skin’s own repair and regeneration pathways.

Unlike many injectable treatments that primarily add volume or hydration, polynucleotides work at a deeper cellular level, reducing oxidative stress, dampening inflammation, stimulating fibroblast activity and supporting long-term tissue health.

Polynucleotides are particularly valuable for patients with chronically inflamed, damaged or sensitised skin, including those with acne-prone skin, rosacea, sun damage or post-inflammatory pigmentation.

Who it suits

Highly effective as a standalone regenerative treatment for patients who want to improve overall skin health, reduce fine lines and achieve a calmer, clearer complexion over time.

Honest suitability

Is this treatment right for you?

Dr Corcoran confirms suitability properly at consultation, but this is a fair starting point.

Often a good fit if
  • You have chronically inflamed, sensitised or damaged skin
  • You have acne-prone skin, rosacea or post-inflammatory pigmentation
  • You want a completely natural, DNA-derived treatment
  • You want to support long-term skin health, not just surface appearance
Worth discussing first if
  • Your main concern is volume loss rather than skin health, where filler may serve you better
  • You want an immediate, one-session result
  • You have a known allergy to fish products
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
